Zandalari Spinning Wheel

Personal Project: Original Concept, Model, and Texture.

I'm very excited to share this project from my CGMA class with Ashleigh Warner. I wanted to explore a re-telling of Rumpelstiltskin within WoW lore and the Zandalari culture kit.

When the night is dark and the moon is full, the trolls of high Zandalar tell the tale of a Casteless woman and the great Loa Bwonsamdi. As the tales go, a great God-King once commanded his armies to seize the Casteless maid, for the forktongued Loa of Treachery had led him to believe she could spin straw into purest gold. Despairing in her gilded cell, the woman cried out and lo, her cries were answered! Grinning death descended upon her tower, and brought with him a spinning wheel of resplendent gold... and all she had to do was shake that poor specter's hand.

Some like to say the Casteless troll wed the God-King in a gown of golden silk, only for the Loa to claim her firstborn when her debts came due. Others prefer to imagine she cheated the old trickster and still to this day spins the gilt-gold clouds that adorn the dawn. But whether the tales are truth or fiction, a golden spinning wheel still sits in the great pyramid of Dazar'alor, awaiting the next craftsman willing to make a little deal. But do remember, 'mon. Old Bwonsamdi never forgets a soul.
